形容词不能作状语(单独一个形容词可以作状语吗)
1. Greatly interested, I asked to have a try myself.
2. Delighted, the girls thought up many good ideas.
第1句interested，第2句delighted，是什么词性做什么成份？单独一个形容词能做状语吗？应该不能吧！但如果认为它们是过去分词做状语，但是它们与主语又没有被动的关系，如果认为其前面省略了being而只留下了表语形容词，但是我记得好像只有独立主格时才可以省略being吧？请老师帮忙仔细分析，这里实在搞不懂。
【答】interested 和delighted，都是由过去分词变来的形容词。
1. 因为纯粹的形容词（短语）不是非谓语动词，应加Being，只有如此才变成非谓语动词。
例如：
Being ill, he can’t attend today’s meeting.
Being hungry, they had to look for food.
2. 如果是由过去分词变来的形容词，加不加Being均可，因为分词本身也是非谓语动词。
例如：
(Being) worried about his health, she couldn’t sleep.
(Being) surprised at the news, he kept asking how.
此外，关于单个形容词、还是形容词短语作状语，这不是问题的根本。我们关心的是这个Being 加不加的问题。我的看法是：
如果纯形容词作原因状语，应该加Being。包括独立主格和with 复合结构，也是如此：
Her mother being ill, she couldn't go to school.
With her mother being ill, she couldn't go to school.
