若想使我们的表达丰富，自然离不开各种各样的表达形式例如：俚语（Slang）、成语（Idiom）、谚语（Proverb）等，我相信一定有同学看到这里已经开始不爽，这这这都是神马。

今天我就尝试来简单地讨论一下以上三者的区别和基本用法。

首先，我们先来看俚语（Slang）。

一、slangn. /slæŋ/

[ U ] very informal words and expressions that are more common in spoken language, especially used by a particular group of people, for example, children, criminals, soldiers, etc. 俚语

例如：Full of beans: describes a person who is full of life and energetic. For example:

Mark is full of beans today.

结合词典中的英文解释和小编查询的资料来看，我们可以这样理解:

英语俚语(Slang)是一种非正式的语言。指的是民间非正式、同时较口语化的语句，通常不会出现在正式的书面表达里。可以联想我们某些非常具有代表性的方言，例如“中”、“铁磁”、“老铁”。且这类词语大多是以单字或几个单字组成，相对于 Idiom，长度相对短很多。

接着，我们来看一下Idiom怎么回事，先看英文解释：

[ C ] a group of words whose meaning is different from the meanings of the individual words 习语；成语；

‘Let the cat out of the bag’ is an idiom meaning to tell a secret by mistake. “让猫从袋子里跑出来”是惯用语，意思是无意中泄露秘密。

Idiom可以类似对应于中文中的成语；中文中成语多为四字，英文中的idiom则不然；中文成语和英文idiom有一个共同点为：字面意思多与其实际想表达的意思不同。

另外Idiom与Slang比起来，受众更广（不受地域限制）。

最后我们来探讨一下谚语（Proverb）与上述俚语（Slang）以及Idiom（成语）的区别。

三、proverb n. /ˈprɑvɝb/

a well-known phrase or sentence that gives advice or says sth that is generally true, for example

The early bird gets the worm. (start working early and you will be successful).

Or: I get up at five and do two hours of work before I go to the office.

谚语多为完整的句子；上述俚语（slang）和成语(idiom)多指短语或词语。

若要按照字符长短来看的话，一般情况下：谚语（Proverb）> 成语(Idiom) > 俚语（Slang）。
