英语明喻的常用句式（2） “As” Pattern

为了形象、深刻地描写某一事物，人们常把具有某种共同特征的两种不同事物加以对比，用另一种事物作比喻来说明所要表达的事物，这种对比在修辞学上称为明喻（simile）。A simile is a figure of speech which makes a comparison between two unlike elements having at least on quality or characteristic in common.

“As” Pattern 是英语中表示明喻的常用句式之一。

A.as + 形容词 + as ...... 像 ......一样

例句：

That man can't be trusted. He's as slippery as an eel.

那个人不可信，他像鳝鱼一样滑。

My money and goods are as dear to him as life itself.

钱财对他来说如同生命一样宝贵。

The flowers were as soft as thoughts of budding love.

花儿像萌芽中的爱情一样柔软。

My grandmother may seem scary to others, but she is as gentle as a lamb.

D.（just）as ……, so …… “正如 ……一样，……也 ……”；用于表示两个句子意义上肯定的比拟。

例如：

As the lion is king of beasts, so is the eagle king of birds.

As fire tries gold, so does adversity try virtue.
